Rachel has been working as a consultant Gender technical advisor for the Gender Hub at the GPE Secretariat since November 2022. During this time, Rachel’s focus has been gender mainstreaming across the partnership, including developing operational tools and leading on the consultation and drafting of the new GPE Gender Paper “Going Further Together: A Partnership Approach to Gender Equality.”
Rachel has been working in gender, education and development for over 20 years. She has worked extensively with UK and international non-governmental organizations, the United Nations, foundations and fund managers in the UK, Africa and Asia.
Rachel is an experienced gender equality and social inclusion advisor delivering operational and research-based support to organizations who are committed to transformative gender equality and social inclusion solutions. In 2022 she led the research for UNGEI (United Nations Girls’ Education Initiative) on “How is gender equality included in education planning?” looking at education planning practices in the eight West African members of the Gender at the Centre Initiative. From 2016-2020, Rachel was the Gender and Social inclusion technical lead for the second phase of the FCDO-funded Girls’ Education Challenge (GEC) Program.
Rachel holds a master’s degree in Gender and Development from the Institute of Development Studies, Brighton.
