Alexander Winkscha is an Education Specialist with the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), currently supporting the country teams for Liberia, Nigeria, Sudan and Yemen, and is also a member of the GPE Secretariat Gender Hub. He is seconded to the GPE Secretariat from the Global Program Education of GIZ (the German Corporation for International Cooperation).

Before joining GPE in 2023, Alex has worked for GIZ as an education advisor in Afghanistan (2012-2014) with a focus on girls’ education and teacher development, backstopped for GIZ education programs in fragile and conflict-affected states (2014-2015) and managed a regional GIZ WASH in Schools program in Southeast-Asia out of Laos (2015-2022).

Alex holds a M.A. in Japanese Studies, Political Science and English Literature from the Freie Universität Berlin.
